Privacy policy

• We collect as little as we can.
• We never see your card number. The payment company handles that.
• We do not sell your data and we do not run advertising.
• Class Cookies has no AI in it. We do not send what you type about a student anywhere else, and what you do with your own export is yours.
• You can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time.

Your account. Your email address, and a display name if you set one. If you sign in with Google we receive your email address and name from Google. We do not receive your Google password.

The country you teach in, if you tell us. You can choose it on your account page. It is not required. We use it only to count how many teachers use Class Cookies in each country, and we never look at a count small enough to point to one teacher. It is not shown to anyone else, it is never guessed from your internet address, and you can change it or remove it at any time.

Your profile card, if you fill it in. On your account page you can choose a picture from our set, and add your job and a short line about yourself. All three are optional. Your job and your short line are only for you: they are shown on your own account page and nowhere else. Your picture is shown there too, and next to your name on discussions and replies you post in The Staffroom, where anyone can see it. A post without your name shows no picture. If you change your picture, the new one is shown on what you post next. You can change them or clear them at any time.

Your calendar, if you use it. On your account page you can keep a calendar: a short note and a colour for any day you choose. Only you can see it. It is not shown to other teachers, in The Staffroom, in My Classroom or anywhere else. To remove a day, clear its note and its colour and save. If you delete your account, your calendar is deleted with it.

Your subscription. Whether you have an active subscription, which plan, and when it renews. Payments are handled by Paddle, who act as the seller. Paddle takes your payment details on their own systems. We never receive or store your card number.

What you put in My Classroom. Class names, student names, an avatar for each student, points, attendance (whether a student attended, was absent or was late on a day), any comments you write, and your word lists and sentence lists. You choose what to type here. We ask you to use first names or nicknames only, not full names and not any other detail that identifies a child. You do not need more than that for the product to work.

Boy or girl, if you set it. For each student you can choose Boy or Girl. It is optional, and every student starts as not set. We store it with the student. It is shown only to you: where you add a student, on the class's Gender page, and in your Excel file. It is not shown on your class page, the boards or the leaderboard. If you bring the class into Mango Mafia, the game uses it to draw a boy or a girl.

Mango Mafia and your classes. If you subscribe, you can bring a class's student names, and Boy or Girl if you set it, into Mango Mafia, our classroom game. The names go from our database to the game in your browser, for that game only. Mango Mafia does not save them anywhere, and they are gone when you close the tab. Nothing is sent back.

Your registers, if you take them. For each class you can keep a register: for each student and day, Attended, Absent or Late. Only you can see it. It is not shown on your class page, the boards, the leaderboard or in any game. If you remove a student, their marks are deleted. If you delete a class or your account, its registers are deleted with it.

Your word lists and sentence lists, if you make them. Only you can see them. If you subscribe, you can use them in our games that read lists, like 59 Seconds. When you choose one of your lists in a game, the game reads that list from your account. 59 Seconds also keeps a note of which of your lists is linked to which deck: your account id and the list id, not the words.

What you share in The Staffroom. Anything you post, upload or comment on, and the fact that you posted it. We also keep which worksheets and discussions you like. Only you can see that. Everyone else sees only how many likes something has.

Basic technical data. Standard server logs, and the cookie described below. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Class Cookies is a tool for teachers. Students never sign in, never create an account, and never give us anything directly. The only information about a student on the platform is what their teacher chooses to type into My Classroom.

If you are a teacher at a school or academy, please follow whatever your school requires about student records before you type student information into any online tool, including this one.

My Classroom can export a class to an Excel file with student names, Boy or Girl if you set it, and your comments. That file is built on our server and sent straight to you. We do not keep a copy, and we do not send it anywhere else. What you do with the file afterwards is up to you.

You can also download a class's register for a day or a week as an Excel file, with student names and their marks, for example to email it to your school office yourself. It is built the same way: we do not keep a copy, and we do not send it to anyone. You send it.

Class Cookies has no AI in it. Nothing on this site writes, reads or processes student comments with AI, and nothing is sent to an AI service.

We set one cookie so that you stay signed in. It is set on .classcookies.com so that signing in once also signs you in on the game pages, which sit on addresses like mangomafia.classcookies.com. That is the only reason for it. Outside the payment page described below, there are no advertising cookies and no third party tracking scripts.

The free tools work with no account, so they set no sign-in cookie.

The payment page. On the one page where you pay for a subscription, and only there, Paddle, the seller, runs its checkout. Paddle's checkout loads only when you choose a plan on that page, or when you open a payment link that Paddle sent you. Until then, nothing from Paddle loads. When it loads, it sets Paddle's own cookies and connects to Paddle's services. One of them is Paddle Retain, loaded from public.profitwell.com, which Paddle describes as a way to recover failed payments and reduce cancellations. Paddle's checkout also connects to other services that Paddle uses: Sentry, global.localizecdn.com and Google Fonts. Paddle's privacy notice explains what Paddle does with this: paddle.com/legal/privacy.

Our database and file storage are hosted by Supabase, in their Seoul region in South Korea. The website is hosted by Vercel. Payments and billing records are held by Paddle. Each of these companies processes data on our instructions.

If you are outside South Korea, your data will be stored there. Some of these providers operate globally, so data may be handled in other countries as part of running the service.

We keep encrypted backup copies of the database so we can restore the service after a failure. We keep them in South Korea, and we also keep an encrypted copy in Google Drive. Google may store that copy on its servers in other countries. It is encrypted, so Google cannot read it.

Only the companies above, and only so the service can run. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

If you post something publicly in The Staffroom, it is visible to anyone on the internet, including search engines. Do not put student information in a public post.

The name on your discussions is one you choose. Before your first discussion or reply, we ask you what name to show. It is shown on the page with what you wrote, with your picture if you chose one, and anyone can see it. You can choose to post without a name, and then no picture is shown either. You can change it later for what you write next, and you can take your name and your picture off everything you have already written. The name on your account is separate and stays private.

We keep your account and its contents while your account exists. If your subscription ends, nothing is deleted. Your classes, students, comments, scores, registers, word lists, sentence lists and Staffroom collections stay in your account, and you can read them at any time, whether you subscribe or not. You can subscribe again later and carry on where you left off.

If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it and the data attached to it. We may keep billing records where the law requires us to.

Backup copies are kept for up to 3 months. If you delete your account, it is removed from backups as they expire.
